From August 30 to September 2, the 13th Congress of the Asia Pacific Postal Union (APPU) was held in Bangkok, under the presidency of Thailand. With the 9th APPU Business Forum followed.
Thirty member countries took part as well as several observers, including the French, Swiss and German Posts.
The Congress elected its new Secretary General: Dr Vinaya Prakash SINGH
The main topic on the agenda was the UPU opening. Some member countries presented their positions, calling for caution and making a common decision for the Asian-Pacific posts. Jean-Paul Forceville, as the Postal Operations Council Chairman, also spoke.
Lin Hongliang, Secretary General, warmly thanked the French Post for its financial contribution and its expertise in the upgrade of the APPU training center equipment and its training program.
Jean-Paul Forceville was also invited to participate to the Business Forum where he spokes about sustainability and business resilience.
This 13th Congress was a great success and very much appreciated by all participants. Jean-Paul Forceville said: "This Congress was a great opportunity to exchange views on different topics that are important for the future of the global postal network. Moreover, this meeting enabled us to strengthen our relationships with APPU member countries."
